The best all-inclusive in Negril is Couples Swept Away, and it wins for a reason specific to this town: 312 suites spread over 17 acres of gardens directly on Seven Mile Beach, with a 10-acre sports complex across the road that nothing else in Jamaica matches. If you want the newest suites and the most interesting room product instead, that is Princess Senses The Mangrove — 401 ocean-view suites and 14 overwater villas — but it is at Green Island, north of town, and it is not on Seven Mile Beach at all.

That distinction is the whole page. Negril has exactly one asset, and it is the beach: seven continuous miles of sand on the island's western tip, which is why the town exists and why people fly ninety minutes from Montego Bay's airport to reach it. A Negril resort that is not on that sand is a resort with a Negril postmark, and the sellers are not always keen to make the difference obvious. So we state beach position for every entry, in the first line.

Negril also splits into two completely different places, which catches out first-time visitors. North of the roundabout is the beach: the long flat strip, the all-inclusives, the catamarans. South of it is the West End, a limestone cliff shore with no beach at all, where the hotels are small, boutique and mostly sold room-only — Caribbean Journal's own 2026 Negril ranking runs "from Seven Mile Beach to luxury cliffside retreats" for exactly this reason. If you want an all-inclusive, you want the beach side, and that is what this list ranks.

No entry carries one of our rubric scores: we have reviewed two Jamaican properties in full and both are in the Montego Bay area, so everything below is an honest editorial mention with specific drawbacks rather than a manufactured number. We print no nightly rates either — Jamaican rates swing hard between the December-to-April high season and the late-summer low, so each button pulls live pricing for your dates. If you have not settled on a town yet, our island-wide Jamaica all-inclusive ranking and the Montego Bay list cover the alternatives.

At a glance

Compare picks on beach position first — directly on Seven Mile Beach, the quieter north end, or outside Negril — then on door policy (couples-only vs adults-only) and what the rate includes. No entry carries one of our rubric scores because we have not reviewed a Negril property in full, and "from" prices are deliberately blank: tap "Check rates on Expedia" for live pricing.

Every “Check Rates” button opens live availability for that resort on Expedia. Rates as of September 2026. Always verify current pricing.

How we chose

We ranked Negril's all-inclusive resorts on five criteria. First, and weighted heaviest because it is the only thing this town has that its rivals do not: beach position — whether the property sits directly on Seven Mile Beach, on the quieter northern end of the strip, or outside Negril entirely. Second, the door policy, because the Negril field splits unusually sharply between couples-only resorts that will not sell a room to two friends and adults-only resorts that will. Third, what the rate buys: dining venues against room count, whether airport transfers are inside the rate, and whether the resort's headline facilities are included or billed. Fourth, trading status, which still matters in Jamaica a year after Hurricane Melissa — we state what is open and what is being rebuilt. Fifth, fit, because a 234-room couples resort and a 401-suite adults-only campus with a sister hotel next door are not competing for the same booking. Assessments draw on operator fact sheets, major-seller property data, trade reporting and our own editorial analysis — not fabricated firsthand stays. Where published counts disagree, we say so rather than pick the flattering number.

#1 · Best overall

Couples Swept Away

Couples Resorts

312 suites over 17 acres of gardens on Seven Mile Beach, with a 10-acre sports complex across the road — the most to do of any resort in Jamaica.

Couples Swept Away is the resort this town is known for, and it earns the position on two things. The first is the beach: Travel + Leisure records 312 suites spread across 17 acres of gardens directly on Seven Mile Beach, which is the frontage every other entry on this page is measured against. The second is the sports complex — a 10-acre facility that is genuinely unusual in the Caribbean all-inclusive market, where "activities" normally means a volleyball net and a kayak rack.

The inclusions follow the Couples Resorts template, and it is a strong one: scuba for certified divers, round-trip airport transfers, premium drinks and gratuities are all inside the rate, under a strict no-tipping policy. At the two Negril resorts the brand also includes a catamaran cruise up to four times weekly, which is a real excursion rather than a token one. The brand values its full inclusion list at roughly $1,700 per couple per week, which is marketing arithmetic but not a wild one once you price the dive trips and the transfers separately.

Three honest catches. Couples Resorts is couples-only — two adults traveling together — so this is not an option for two friends, a parent with an adult child, or a solo traveler; our [Sandals versus Couples Resorts comparison](/compare/sandals-vs-couples-resorts) sets out how identically the two brands gate their doors. There is no butler tier and no overwater product anywhere in the Couples portfolio, so if a suite with a plunge pool and a named butler is the point, this is the wrong brand. And 312 suites is a large resort: the sports complex absorbs a lot of people, but the better restaurants still queue at peak weeks.

The good

  • 312 suites directly on Seven Mile Beach across 17 acres of gardens
  • A 10-acre sports complex, plus a catamaran cruise up to four times weekly, inside the rate
  • Airport transfers, scuba for certified divers, premium drinks and gratuities all included; strict no-tipping policy

The trade-offs

  • Couples-only — it will not sell a room to friends, a parent and adult child, or a solo traveler
  • No butler tier and no overwater or plunge-pool suite product anywhere in the brand
  • 312 suites is a big resort; the restaurants queue at peak weeks

#2 · Best inclusions on the beach

Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa

Sandals

The Sandals inclusion list on Seven Mile Beach, and one of the four Jamaican Sandals trading while the Montego Bay pair is rebuilt.

Sandals Negril is the other Seven Mile Beach heavyweight, and in 2026 it has an advantage it did not ask for: it is open. Four of Sandals' seven Jamaican resorts are trading — Negril, Ochi, Dunn's River and Royal Plantation — while Sandals South Coast reopens on November 18, 2026 and Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Caribbean Cay (formerly Sandals Royal Caribbean) reopen on December 18, 2026 under the brand's $200-million rebuild. For anyone traveling before mid-December, Negril is the Sandals beach option in Jamaica.

What you buy here is the deepest inclusion list in the Caribbean mass-luxury market. Round-trip airport transfers are inside the rate — worth roughly $150 to $550 depending on the island and the drive, and the item almost every rate comparison leaves out. Unlimited scuba for certified divers is included, every restaurant is open to every guest regardless of room category, and the brand operates a no-tipping policy with butlers and spa therapists as the stated exceptions. Our [Sandals versus Excellence](/compare/sandals-vs-excellence) comparison prices that bundle properly.

Three catches, and the first is the one this page cares about. Negril is about ninety minutes by road from Sangster International, so the Sandals transfer inclusion is doing more work here than at a Montego Bay property ten minutes from the terminal — budget the time, not just the money. Second, like every Sandals resort this is couples-only. Third, the brand's overwater suites are in St. Lucia, Saint Vincent and (from December 2026) Montego Bay — there is no overwater product in Negril, so if that is the reason you are shopping Sandals, our [Sandals overwater ranking](/best/sandals-overwater-bungalows) is the page you want.

The good

  • Directly on Seven Mile Beach, and open while the two Montego Bay Sandals are rebuilt
  • Round-trip airport transfers (roughly $150-$550 of value) and unlimited scuba for certified divers inside the rate
  • Every restaurant open to every guest; no-tipping policy except butlers and spa therapists

The trade-offs

  • About 90 minutes by road from Montego Bay's airport — the transfer is included, the time is not
  • Couples-only, like every Sandals resort
  • No overwater suites here; that product is in St. Lucia, Saint Vincent and Montego Bay

#3 · Best suites and overwater villas

Princess Senses The Mangrove

Princess Hotels & Resorts

401 ocean-view suites, 14 overwater villas, 14 restaurants and 15 bars — the newest and most interesting room product on this coast, and it is not in Negril.

This is the entry that complicates every published Negril list, including this one. Princess Senses The Mangrove is an adults-only resort at Green Island, west of Negril, and seller listings record 401 ocean-view suites plus 14 overwater villas, 14 restaurants and 15 bars, with guest access to the neighboring Princess Grand Jamaica. Caribbean Journal describes it as a new-generation resort built around those overwater villas. On product alone it is the strongest thing on this page.

The overwater villas are the headline and they are rare. Jamaica's only other overwater accommodation is at Sandals Caribbean Cay in Montego Bay, which is shut until December 18, 2026, and the wider Caribbean has barely a dozen such resorts — our [Caribbean overwater ranking](/best/overwater-bungalows-caribbean) covers the whole field. Fourteen villas with infinity pools, on this coast, at a brand-new adults-only resort, is a genuinely novel proposition and the reason this sits third rather than fifth.

The catches are real and the first is decisive for anyone who chose Negril on purpose. Green Island is not Seven Mile Beach — it is a separate stretch of coast west of the town, which means the seven miles of sand that is Negril's entire reason for existing is a drive away, not a walk. Second, 401 suites plus the sister resort's guests is a very large campus; the 14-restaurant roster is spread across it, and the exclusivity the "Senses" label implies is a tier inside a big operation. Third, it is brand new, with the service wobbles that follow every large opening, and we have not reviewed it, so it carries no rubric score and no printed rate.

The good

  • 14 overwater villas with infinity pools — the only ones on this coast while Sandals Caribbean Cay is shut
  • 401 ocean-view suites with 14 restaurants and 15 bars, plus access to the neighboring Princess Grand Jamaica
  • Adults-only, and the newest build in the area by some distance

The trade-offs

  • At Green Island, west of Negril — Seven Mile Beach is a drive, not a walk
  • 401 suites plus the sister resort's guests: a very large campus, not the hideaway the branding implies
  • Brand-new operation with no track record, no review on this site and no rubric score

#4 · Best for a quiet week

Couples Negril

Couples Resorts

234 rooms at the quiet end of the sand with a semi-private au naturel beach — the smaller, calmer half of the Couples pair.

Couples Negril is Swept Away's smaller sibling and the better choice for anyone whose idea of a beach holiday does not include a 10-acre sports complex. The resort runs 234 rooms at the quieter northern end of the Negril strip, with the same brand inclusions — transfers, scuba for certified divers, premium drinks, gratuities, the no-tipping policy — and the same catamaran cruise that both Negril properties carry up to four times a week.

It also has a feature Swept Away does not: a semi-private au naturel beach. Three of the four Couples resorts have designated au naturel areas and Swept Away is the exception, so within this brand Negril is the clothing-optional option. For couples who want that, the choice between the two Negril resorts is settled before any other comparison.

The catches are the mirror image of its advantages. At 234 rooms the restaurant roster is shorter than Swept Away's and considerably shorter than the big Princess campus down the coast, so a week here is less varied. There is no butler tier and no plunge-pool suite product, the same brand-wide gap. And it is couples-only, so the same exclusion applies — friends, siblings and solo travelers need the adults-only resorts on this page instead. Our [Sandals versus Couples](/compare/sandals-vs-couples-resorts) page compares the two brands' inclusion lists line by line.

The good

  • 234 rooms at the quieter northern end of the strip — calmer than Swept Away by design
  • Semi-private au naturel beach, which Swept Away does not have
  • Same brand inclusions: transfers, scuba for certified divers, premium drinks, gratuities, no tipping

The trade-offs

  • Shorter restaurant roster than Swept Away or the Princess campus
  • Couples-only, and no butler or plunge-pool suite tier anywhere in the brand
  • Less to do on property, which is the point for some travelers and a drawback for others

#5 · Best adults-only that takes any adults

Hideaway at Royalton Negril

Royalton (Blue Diamond Resorts)

An adults-only tier with its own beach, pools and restaurant inside a family resort — the Negril answer for travelers who are not a couple.

Hideaway is the structural answer to the problem the top of this page creates: three of the five entries are couples-only or at a resort outside Negril, which leaves friends, siblings and solo travelers short of options. Hideaway at Royalton Negril is an adults-only tier with exclusive beach and pool areas and its own restaurant — Sunwing names Ocean Point Bistro as exclusive to Hideaway guests — sitting inside the wider Royalton complex, whose facilities guests can also use.

That arrangement has a real advantage beyond the door policy. You get an adults-only perimeter for the pool and the beach while keeping access to a full family-resort's worth of restaurants, bars and entertainment, which at this price point buys more variety than a standalone adults-only property of the same size. For a group of friends on Seven Mile Beach, it is the sensible booking.

The honest catch is that Hideaway is a tier, not a resort. The adults-only promise covers your section's beach, pools and restaurant; the rest of the campus is a family resort, and the quiet you are buying stops at the boundary. The shared infrastructure is also the shared standard — this is a volume operator at a mid-market price, not the suite product of the Princess campus or the service standard of the Couples pair. We have not reviewed it, so it carries no rubric score.

The good

  • Adults-only tier with exclusive beach and pool areas plus Ocean Point Bistro, reserved for Hideaway guests
  • Will sell to any adults, unlike the two couples-only resorts above
  • Access to the wider Royalton complex's restaurants, bars and entertainment

The trade-offs

  • It is a tier inside a family resort, so the adults-only quiet stops at your section's boundary
  • Volume-operator standard: mid-market finishes and shared infrastructure
  • No full review on this site, so no rubric score

Beach side or cliff side — decide this first

Negril is two towns with one name, and almost every disappointed Negril review comes from a traveler who booked the wrong one. North of the roundabout is the beach: seven continuous miles of flat sand, where every all-inclusive on this page sits and where the catamarans, the beach bars and the sunset crowd are. South of it is the West End, a limestone cliff shore with no beach — you swim by ladder or by jumping — where the hotels are small, individual and mostly sold room-only rather than all-inclusive.

The West End is not worse. For some travelers it is the better half of Negril: quieter, more characterful, cheaper at the same quality level, and home to the cliffside properties that give Caribbean Journal's 2026 Negril ranking its subtitle. But it is a different holiday, and if you want a wristband, a swim-up bar and sand under the lounger, you want the beach side. This list ranks the beach side because that is where the all-inclusive field is.

One practical note for the cliff-curious: the two sides are a ten-minute taxi apart, so you can stay on the beach and eat dinner over the cliffs at sunset without changing hotels. That is the arrangement most first-time visitors should book — beach for the week, West End for an evening.

Check the door policy before the inclusions

Negril's field splits more sharply on admissions than any other Jamaican resort town, and the split is not about quality. Couples Swept Away, Couples Negril and Sandals Negril are all couples-only: the reservations rule is two adults traveling together as a couple, which rules all three out for a girls' trip, two brothers, a parent with an adult child, or anyone traveling alone. That is three of the five entries on this page gone for a large share of readers.

Princess Senses The Mangrove and Hideaway at Royalton Negril are adults-only by age instead, and will sell to any combination of adults. If you are not a couple, those are your two Negril options at this standard, and the choice between them is the choice between the newest suites on the coast and a genuine Seven Mile Beach position. Our ranking of all-inclusive resorts for a girls' trip exists because this exact wall catches so many bookings, and adults-only all-inclusive resorts ranks the wider field.

Only once the door is settled does the inclusion list matter — and then it matters a lot, because the two brands here treat it differently. Sandals and Couples both put airport transfers, scuba for certified divers, premium drinks and gratuities inside the rate, which for a ninety-minute transfer from Montego Bay is worth real money. The volume operators generally do not include the transfer, so price it in before you compare headline rates.

Jamaica a year after Hurricane Melissa

Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica in October 2025, and a year on the recovery picture is uneven in a way that still affects which resorts you can actually book. Negril came out of it in better shape than the north coast: all four Couples Resorts properties reopened on December 1, 2025 after minor damage, and the Sandals and Beaches resorts in Negril and Ocho Rios were back from December 6, 2025.

Montego Bay is the exception, and it is the reason this page exists alongside our Montego Bay ranking. Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Caribbean Cay are both closed until December 18, 2026 — the Montego Bay date already slipped once, from May 30, 2026 — and Sandals South Coast reopens on November 18, 2026, all under the brand's $200-million rebuild program. If your trip falls before mid-December 2026, Negril has more trading inventory at this standard than Montego Bay does.

The practical rule is the same one we gave on the Montego Bay page: "the island is open" and "this specific resort is open" are different claims, and reopening dates on projects this size move. Book something that is already trading, and treat a resort that reopens within a few weeks of your dates as next year's trip. Jamaica's wider tourism recovery has run ahead of the early reporting.

What Negril costs you in travel time

Negril's one structural disadvantage is the drive. Sangster International in Montego Bay is the airport you will fly into, and Negril is roughly ninety minutes away by road along the north-west coast. Ocho Rios is a similar distance in the other direction; Montego Bay's own resort strip is ten to twenty-five minutes from the terminal. On a seven-night trip that gap is an inconvenience. On a four-night trip it is a quarter of your first and last days.

Two things soften it. Both Sandals and Couples include round-trip airport transfers in the rate, so the ninety minutes costs you time rather than money — and a pre-arranged transfer after a long flight is a materially better arrival than a taxi negotiation. And the drive itself is along the coast rather than through the interior, so it reads as part of the holiday on the way in, if less so on the way out when you are watching the clock.

If the transfer time is the deciding factor, the honest answer is to book Montego Bay instead and accept a busier, more commercial beach — our Montego Bay ranking lists what is trading there now. If the beach is the deciding factor, Negril wins that comparison outright, and the ninety minutes is what the better sand costs. Our guide to when to visit Jamaica matters more than either for the quality of the week, and what a Jamaican all-inclusive costs gives the current rate bands.

Frequently Asked Questions

By our assessment, Couples Swept Away — 312 suites across 17 acres of gardens directly on Seven Mile Beach, with a 10-acre sports complex, a catamaran cruise up to four times weekly, and airport transfers, scuba for certified divers, premium drinks and gratuities all inside the rate. The catch is that it is couples-only. If you are not traveling as a couple, the best Negril-area options are Princess Senses The Mangrove (adults-only, 401 suites and 14 overwater villas, but at Green Island rather than on Seven Mile Beach) and Hideaway at Royalton Negril (an adults-only tier with its own beach, pools and restaurant).
