We help affluent travelers make a confident, well-informed decision about the most important part of a luxury trip — the resort itself.
Why we exist
Booking a $5,000–$50,000 trip should not come down to whoever spent the most on advertising. Yet most “best resort” content online is either a relentlessly positive affiliate page or a thin listicle that never tells you what a place is actually like. The Gilded Escape exists to be the opposite: an editorial guide with a point of view, a consistent scoring system, and the discipline to name the downsides.
We are an independent publisher, not a travel agency or a booking engine. We do not sell trips. We research resorts from published brand specifications, verified guest data, and our own comparison work, then we tell you — clearly and decisively — which one fits your trip and which one to skip.
What makes our coverage different
- One rubric, every resort.Rooms, food & inclusions, service, beach & pool, and value — scored out of 10 so two resorts are genuinely comparable.
- A mandatory “The Catch.” Every review documents the real trade-offs, from sargassum seasons to à la carte dining costs to transfer logistics.
- Dated prices.Travel rates move constantly, so every price carries a “rates as of” date and a prompt to check current pricing.
- Transparent money. We earn affiliate commissions, we say so plainly, and it never affects our scores. Read our editorial policy and disclosure.
How we work
Each review is assigned to the editor with the most relevant expertise, scored against our rubric, and checked for factual accuracy before publishing. Money pages carry a “last updated” date and are reviewed at least quarterly because rates, inclusions, and program availability change. When we get something wrong, we correct it and note the change — our full methodology lives on the editorial policy page.
